Welcome!

Siekoya Remolino is a community of 53 families living on the banks of the Aguarico River in the northeastern Ecuadorian Amazon region. We belong to the Siekopai nationality (which means “multicoloured people”). We live in a traditional way, fishing and growing crops in our chakras.

We depend on the Amazon rainforest for survival and its destruction puts our people at risk of extinction.
In the face of this existential threat, the community of Siekoya Remolino has declared itself in resistance. We have pledged to conserve the biodiversity of our territory and our ancestral culture.

We are in the process of weaving a tapestry of resistance with many threads, using our ancestral wisdom and modern tools.

Thank you for visiting our website. The doors of our community are open to welcome you!

It may take us a couple of days to respond to you, as we don't always have internet in the community, especially on rainy days!

 Support Us

To support our efforts to defend the Amazon rainforest and our ancestral culture, you can make a donation to our crowdfunding campaign. We are eternally grateful to all the people who have donated so far, making so much of our work possible.

You can follow us on Facebook and share our content, which helps us to spread the word about our struggle, raise the profile of our community, and promote our products.

We are also looking for long-term volunteers (3-6 months) to teach English. This will provide our children with an invaluable skill and help us to communicate with the visitors to our eco-tourism project. If you have other skills to offer the community, please contact us.
