Morete Oil
For centuries, the Siekopai have been using morete oil to moisturize and rejuvenate our skin and hair. Rich in vitamins A, C and E, it contains even more beta carotene than carrot oil and helps to filter UV rays. Morete is a heavy emollient oil with a beautiful golden colour, ideal for nighttime use on your face, or for healing damaged skin and hair. Our morete oil is organic, cold pressed and 100% pure. It’s available in 10ml ($4) and 20ml ($8). A little goes a long way!
Our allies at Big Canopy Campout have trained us in tree climbing techniques so that we can harvest the fruit without felling the morete palms, which can reach 35 metres!
Ungurahua Oil
We use the oil from the fruit of this palm tree to nourish, strengthen and restore our hair. Rich in antioxidants and oleic acid, ungurahua oil stimulates and regenerates follicle cells, improves thin and damaged hair, and treats scalp problems such as itching, dandruff, and hair loss. Ungurahua oil is equally good for the skin, as a light daily emollient for face and body. Our ungurahua oil is organic, cold pressed and 100% pure. It’s available in 10ml ($3.50) and 20ml ($7).
Ñata Kërë Oil
We are pioneers in the creation of this oil which, as far as we know, has never been distilled before. Traditionally, the leaves of ñata kërë are used to cure “mal aire” or bad energy, which is the result of a bad spirit entering the body. This can cause discomfort, fever, chills, depression and fear. Our elders cure this by making a bouquet of ñata kërë leaves and sweeping them over the body. When we experimented with distilling it, we were excited to discover that ñata kërë oil has a delicious scent. It can be used to get rid of bad energy and spirits, or as a massage oil. Essential oils are too strong to apply directly to the skin, so we mix it with morete or ungurahua oil. It’s available in 10ml ($10).
Soap Bars
Our bars of soap have a base of vegetable glycerin mixed with extracts of various medicinal plants collected in our territory, such as morete and citronella oil, and akawesë, a plant with acne-fighting properties. A bar costs $5.
Liquid Soap
A base of eco-friendly liquid soap mixed with essential oils such as citronella. It’s available in 20ml ($2).
Insect Repellent
Our natural, organic insect repellent is made with cold pressed morete oil blended with citronella essential oil, amazing at keeping insects away without DEET! It’s available in 20ml ($10).
